Davey Allison, who took the lead when Mark Martin ran out of gas with five laps left, won the Daytona 400 for his first victory in a NASCAR Winston Cup race at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
Allison edged Morgan Shepherd by two car-lengths. Phil Parsons and Bill Elliott, both close behind, wound up third and fourth.
