Tabs Hard to Swallow
I commend Los Angeles City Controller Rick Tuttle for denying the Department of Water and Power reimbursement for expensive meals at public expense, Bettijane Levine’s article on higher-priced Hollywood expense accounts notwithstanding (“Expense Account Living: Charge!” June 20).
The obvious difference is that the DWP was dining at taxpayer expense. Public servants should not be doing power lunches at the Jonathan Club or Spago--that’s fine for private industry, but not with taxpayers picking up the tab.
