6 Children, Alone in Home, Killed in Louisville Fire

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A fire killed six children left alone at home early Tuesday, and investigators said the deaths might have been prevented had there been batteries in a smoke detector. Neighbors said the residents had been using candles for light after their power was shut off. Investigators were seeking the cause of the fire.
