Tom Crites of Tampa, Fla., defeated David Ozio of Vidor, Tex., 202-191, in the final to win his fifth career Professional Bowlers Assn. title, the $135,000 Kessler tournament at Riverside.
Ozio needed three strikes in the 12th frame of the title game to force Crites to get two strikes plus two pins for the victory. Ozio got the first strike, then left a split that he failed to convert.
Crites followed with a strike in his final frame to take the $21,000 winner’s share.
