Bomb Under Tel Aviv Mayor’s Car Defused
JERUSALEM — Israeli police on Wednesday dismantled a small explosive found under the car of Tel Aviv’s mayor while it was parked outside his home in the northern part of the capital.
Mayor Shlomo Lahat said people who oppose plans to demolish an illegally built home and close an unlicensed business may have been responsible.
But police spokeswoman Etti Greenberg said the motive was not known. She described the explosive as “small” and refused to elaborate. Israeli radio stations quoted witnesses as saying it looked like a small gas tank rigged with a few wires.
