THE SIDELINES : SDSU Names Women’s Hoop Coach

SAN DIEGO — Beth Burns, an assistant coach at North Carolina State, has been named to succeed Earnest Riggins as coach of the San Diego State women’s basketball program.
Burns, 31, has never been a head coach at the collegiate level but has spent nine years as an assistant at four universities.
“Beth Burns is an outstanding young coach with solid credentials,” said Fred Miller, San Diego State’s athletic director.
