THE SIDELINES : Kevin Crow Signs With Sockers
SAN DIEGO — Kevin Crow, named three times as “Defender of the Year” in the Major Indoor Soccer League, has signed a contract with the San Diego Sockers for the 1989-90 season, the club announced.
Terms of the one-year pact were not disclosed.
Crow, the Sockers’ second-round draft choice in 1983, had 21 goals and 15 assists last season to earn all-league honors for the third straight year and the fourth time in his career.
He also recorded a club-record 114 blocked shots last season, including a single-game team record of 10 blocks in the regular-season finale April 16 against Tacoma.
Crow, whose 564 career blocked shots makes him one of just three players in indoor soccer history to reach the 500-block plateau, was named the league’s “Defender of the Year” the last two seasons. He also won the award in 1985.
