KQLZ (“Pirate Radio”) program director and morning deejay Scott Shannon is a nominee for personality of the year in a major market in the National Assn. of Broadcasters’ first Marconi Radio Awards. The other finalists in the category are in Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis and Detroit. Nominated for network-syndicated personality of the year are Paul Harvey, Larry King, Bob Kingsley, Charles Osgood, Sally Jessy Raphael and Bruce Williams. Other Los Angeles stations on the list issued Thursday include KPWR-FM, KTNQ-KLVE-FM and KMPC-AM as stations of the year in various categories. The nominees were chosen by a committee of radio industry executives. Winners, selected by radio station managers and program directors, will be announced Sept. 16 at the NAB convention in New Orleans.
