Santa Ana : Customers Find Owner of Store Fatally Shot
Santa Ana police Tuesday were investigating the shooting death of a businessman in the video store he owned.
Alberto Luis Mesco, 46, of Fullerton was found by customers Monday night on the back-room floor of Musica y Video, 2525 W. 17th St., police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas said.
Customers told police that they went inside the store at about 8:45 p.m. Monday and had been browsing for videotapes to rent and waiting for a clerk to appear.
A customer who knew Mesco then called out his name, but he failed to answer. When the customer looked in the back room, he found Mesco dead of multiple wounds in the upper torso, apparently shot with a small-caliber pistol, Thomas said.
There were no witnesses to the shooting, which occurred when Mesco was about to close for the night. Robbery does not appear to be a motive, Thomas said, because the cash register apparently had not been touched.
