WORLD : Bomb Blast on Bus Kills 18 in India

CHANDIGARH, India — A powerful bomb exploded aboard a government-owned bus in the northern state of Haryana today, killing at least 18 people and seriously wounding 30 others.
Police in Chandigarh, the joint capital of Haryana and neighboring Punjab state, said the device detonated as the bus approached a lakeside rest stop in Karnal, about 60 miles to the south.
Officials said the casualty toll could rise.
There was no word on responsibility for the bombing.
