Wasting Water
Concerning our present water shortage, please consider the following conundrum:
One-and-half blocks north of Jefferson Boulevard, Overland Avenue crosses a Los Angeles County flood control conduit. In that conduit is fast-flowing, clear water approximately 1 foot deep and 42 feet wide. It is heading toward the Pacific Ocean and from whence it originates, I know not.
In view of the Department of Water and Power’s edict to conserve water, I wonder why so much of it being deployed so wastefully.
Shades of the film “Chinatown.”
