Terry Porter, point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers, signed a six-year contract that will make him among the NBA’s highest-paid players. Porter, 26, who has a scoring average of 13.3 points, will make more than $2.5 million a year for a contract expected to carry him through the balance of his basketball career.
Blazer officials declined to give the exact figure, but Porter said the Denver Nuggets “set the standard” two weeks ago by signing him to an offer sheet calling for $1.7 million a season. Portland had until today to match or better Denver’s offer.
