Rio Hondo : $35-Million College Budget Adopted--Up $2.4 Million
The Rio Hondo Community College Board of Trustees has adopted a $35-million budget for 1989-90, an increase of about $2.4 million over last year.
The budget includes $1 million for new classes and improvements in existing programs, about $111,000 in student financial aid and $240,765 for the children’s center. In addition, $100,000 in new equipment has been allocated for the college’s police academy.
Pamela Cox, public information officer for the two-year college, said the new budget shows that the school is strong financially and programs are continuing to grow.
The largest part of the college’s income, about $21 million, is made up of state apportionment funds. The budget also includes $1.6 million from the state Lottery.
