Esperanza 28, Long Beach Jordan 7--Tailback Garrick Emry gained 118 yards in 18 carries and scored a touchdown to lead Esperanza (3-1) in Long Beach. The Aztecs gained 247 yards rushing and scored in every quarter.

Fullback Mark Parlin gained 73 yards in 11 carries and also scored a touchdown. Jordan fell to 0-4.

San Clemente 21, Mayfair 14--Tailback Juan Maldonado scored two touchdowns as San Clemente (2-2) won its second consecutive game in Lakewood. Mayfair quarterback David Partin completed nine of 20 pass attempts for 138 yards.

Santa Margarita 23, Ontario Christian 7--Quarterback Trevor Yankoff put together two fourth-quarter drives to lead the Eagles to victory at Saddleback College.

Yankoff scored on runs of seven and two yards and had 80 yards rushing on 14 carries. Santa Margarita was led in rushing by Josh Ireland, who had 132 yards on 22 carries and scored a first-quarter touchdown.

In Express League eight-man football:

Southeast Lutheran 42, Claremont 14--Ken Maitland returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown, but Claremont gave up 20 points in the fourth quarter in the league opener for both teams at Claremont.

Southeast (1-2, 1-0) led, 22-14, at the start of the fourth quarter. Claremont went on a long drive to start the period but fumbled on the Southeast goal line.

Maitland had 77 yards in 12 rushes as well as his kickoff return touchdown. Ken Perkins scored Claremont’s other touchdown on a seven-yard run in the second quarter.
