Roundup : Corso Cool Toward Harvard Win
Strangely, Rich Corso was in no mood for compliments after his Harvard High water polo team had demolished Del Rey League rival Mater Dei, 15-2, Tuesday at Harvard.
“I wasn’t happy with the way we played,” Corso said. “I wasn’t happy with our warmup, I wasn’t happy with our defense. They were still able to move the ball very easily on us.
“I wasn’t happy at all.”
And yet, Harvard improved its record to 13-3 overall, 4-0 in league play. Reserve Shane Loomis scored four goals and freshman Jim Toring added two for the Saracens.
Harvard led, 5-1, at halftime before scoring 10 goals in the second half to make it a blowout. Loomis, a two-meter man, came off the bench in the second quarter to lead the onslaught.
Brian Border added two goals and goalie Larry Bercutt recorded 12 saves for Harvard.
