CSUN Guard to Undergo Knee Surgery
Jemarl Baker, a starting guard on the Cal State Northridge basketball team, will undergo arthroscopic surgery Friday to repair minor cartilage damage in his right knee.
Baker, a 6-foot-1 junior, is expected to miss only two weeks of practice and should be ready for the Nov. 25 opener against St. Thomas (Minn.) at CSUN.
A meeting between the Ogden Corp. and CSUN officials, scheduled for last week, has been postponed indefinitely, Elliott Mininberg, a CSUN administrative vice president said Tuesday.
The Ogden Corp., a New York-based conglomerate, in July delivered a report on the feasibility of a multipurpose arena proposed for the Northridge campus.
Northridge officials had hoped that Ogden would provide financial assistance for the project, but the company’s initial report included no such offer. CSUN sent the study back to Ogden in August for further review.
Heidi Voorhees, a senior at Notre Dame High, placed second in last weekend’s American Junior Golf Assn. championship in Ashland, Ky. Voorhees shot a round of 76 in the tournament for girls under 18. The second day of play was canceled because of rain.
