San Diego homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 13-year-old girl who was shot Thursday afternoon in a Mira Mesa home in the 10000 block of Parkdale Avenue.
The girl, whose identity was not released, suffered a single shotgun blast to the head. First reports said she and a friend were playing in the kitchen of the friend’s home when the shotgun accidentally discharged.
