A tiny temblor rattled the coast near Santa Monica on Thursday evening.

The earthquake struck at 6:03 p.m. and registered a magnitude of 2.4, said Robert Finn, a spokesman for Caltech in Pasadena. The quake was centered about two miles southeast of the coastal city, he said.

There were no reports of injury or damage, said Santa Monica police dispatcher Cynthia Vasquez.
