An episode of violence during the Oct. 20 game between Patrick Henry and Madison, the second incident involving Madison this year, has forced high school officials to reschedule a Friday night game for the afternoon.
The 7 p.m. start for the Oct. 27 Serra-Madison game has been changed to 3 p.m., at Madison.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
U.S. International won the first game, 15-10, against fifth-ranked Cal State Long Beach, but the 49ers swept the next three games, 15-6, 15-3, 15-7, to overcome a scare at Long Beach (16-4). Stephanie Milbradt recorded 12 kills for the Gulls (3-13).
Janelle Dutton had a season and career high 21 kills to lead Point Loma Nazarene to a 15-12, 14-16, 15-1, 15-11, nonconference victory against visiting Biola (19-10). Teammate Lynette Campbell had 14 kills. The Crusaders improved to 13-7.
MEN’S SOCCER
Point Loma Nazarene’s Todd Bernard led the Crusaders over visiting Cal Baptist, 2-1, in a Golden State Athletic Conference game. Bernard scored a goal and had an assist for PLNC (5-6-4, 2-2-1). Cal Baptist is 4-13-1, 0-5.
WATER POLO
Mira Mesa’s high school team broke a 13-year-old San Diego Section record for most goals scored in a single game when it defeated Patrick Henry, 43-5, in a City Eastern League game at Patrick Henry. The previous record was set on Nov. 17, 1976, when Crawford defeated Mission Bay, 42-3.
BASKETBALL
Late entries for the Oct. 28-29 Gus Macker 3-on-3 tournament at Jack Murphy Stadium will be accepted until 9 a.m. Saturday. Teams that register late will be placed in the open division.
