This is the first of two consecutive big game weekends in college football.

To most of Southern California, the big game today is USC-UCLA, to be carried by Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42 begining at 12:30 p.m.

To alumni from Northern California’s two most prominent universities, the big game matches Cal and Stanford and will be covered by Prime Ticket at 3:30 p.m.

In professional sports, already legendary performers in football, hockey and boxing will be featured this weekend.

Bo Jackson and the Raiders invade the Houston Astrodome Sunday for a 1 p.m. meeting with the Oilers on Channels 4, 36 and 39.

Wayne Gretzky and the suddenly resurgent Kings, who have beaten both Stanley Cup finalists in the past seven days, play host to the Washington Capitals tonight in a 7:30 Prime Ticket telecast.

Julio Cesar Chavez, who has a 61-0 record with 51 knockouts, defends his World Boxing Council Super Welterweight Championship against Sammy Fuentes (22-6-1) at 7 p.m. on Home Box Office.
