Sylmar 48, Poly 26--Running back Jerome Casey scored six touchdowns and rushed for 260 yards in 24 carries to lead the Spartans (8-2, 5-2) at Sylmar.
Casey gave Sylmar the lead for good when he scored his third touchdown on the first play of the second quarter, keying a 21-point period.
His run capped a five-play, 49-yard drive in which he carried the ball every time. Casey accounted for more than two-thirds of the Spartans’ 380 yards in offense.
Poly halfback Jonathan Campbell gained 169 yards in 31 carries and scored three times. Only one pass was completed in the game. Reserve Marlon McKinney connected with Eddie Guerrero with four minutes to play for Poly (1-8-1, 0-6-1).
