Del Mar
About 500 gallons of sewage overflowed from a manhole in Del Mar on Monday, according to County Health Services Department officials.
The spill began at 1:15 p.m. when a manhole at Lamista and Camino Del Mar became blocked for unknown reasons.
The sewage flowed into the street and emptied into the ocean from a storm drain at the end of Ninth Street before the spill was stopped at 2 p.m.
Signs warning of the contamination have been posted at several points along the storm drain, and will remain for 24 hours.
