LOCAL : Fire Strikes Chatsworth Condos
About 10 residents of a Chatsworth condominium complex were evacuated this morning when a fire broke out in the garage area, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. There were no injuries.
The fire in the 10200 block of Larwin Avenue was reported about 1:42 a.m., and about 20 firefighters had the flames controlled in 18 minutes, said Capt. Robert Robar.
The fire damaged the garage area and one unit of the single-story building. Residents of nearby units were evacuated as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appeared to have been caused by an electrical malfunction, Robar said.
