HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Palmisano Scores 36 in Thousand Oaks Loss
After her standout freshman season of 1989, much was expected of Thousand Oaks High guard Michelle Palmisano. And while she has delivered, sometimes it still has not been enough.
In a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks on Saturday night, Palmisano scored a game-high 36 points, but the Lancers nonetheless lost to Westlake, 63-58.
Forward Melissa Gische had 25 points to lead a trio of double-figure scorers for Westlake (4-0 in league play).
Thousand Oaks is 8-9, 1-3.
In other girls’ games:
Village Christian 53, Miraleste 31--Forward Jana Kovar scored 14 points in the first half, three more than the Miraleste team, and host Village Christian (7-4, 4-0) rolled in the Alpha League game.
Kovar finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Center LeeAnn Robinson had 18 rebounds.
Brentwood 62, Campbell Hall 52--Despite 19 points and 21 rebounds by Kirsten Williams, Campbell Hall (6-6, 1-2) fell in a Delphic League game at home. Joanna Paul added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Highland Hall 43, Cedu 11--Highland Hall (6-5) climbed above .500 for the first time in seven years at Stonehurst Park in Sun Valley. Monica Palma scored a game-high 12 points and added 12 rebounds for the Hawks.
BOYS
L. A. Baptist 52, Maranatha 46--Alex Pistone scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds as L. A. Baptist, which trailed, 43-38, buried Maranatha with a 14-2 run to open the fourth quarter in an Alpha League game at L. A. Baptist.
Dan Shackelford added 15 points for L. A. Baptist (2-2 in league play).
