American Shuffles U.S.-Europe Routes: American Airlines said it will open five new routes to Europe, adding 26 flights a week. The Dallas-based carrier said the routes, which will start this summer, are between Chicago and London, Glasgow, Scotland, Munich and Dusseldorf, West Germany, and between Miami to London. Citing a shortage of long-haul aircraft, the airline also said it will drop or postpone the start of flights on a number of European routes, including between Chicago and Helsinki, Finland, and Warsaw, and Dallas to Barcelona, Spain. It will also drop nonstop service between New York and Frankfurt, West Germany.
