Delta, Northwest Seek New Routes: Applications to fly between a number of U.S. and Japanese cities were filed with the Department of Transportation by Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines and Minneapolis-based Northwest Airlines. Delta filed to fly routes between Los Angeles and Tokyo, Honolulu and Tokyo, Portland, Ore., and Nagoya, Honolulu and Nagoya, and Atlanta and Tokyo. Northwest has asked for authority to provide service between Kona and Maui, Hawaii, and Tokyo. The airline also has filed to fly passengers between Honolulu and either Nagoya or Fukuoka.
