P. M. BRIEFING : Forbes, Workers Flee Office Fire

NEW YORK — A blaze broke out today in a stockroom at the Greenwich Village building that houses Forbes magazine, sending publishing mogul Malcolm Forbes and hundreds of workers onto the street and leaving five firefighters with minor injuries.
Forbes was among the 400 people evacuated from the eight-story brick building shortly after the blaze began about 11:30 a.m., said Efrain Parrilla, a fire department spokesman.
About 100 firefighters brought the two-alarm fire under control a little over an hour later, he said.
