Robber Fires Into Crowd at Pizzeria; 3 Wounded
Three people were wounded by gunfire Thursday evening during a robbery at a pizzeria in South Los Angeles, police said.
The victims, whose names were not released, were shot about 5:30 p.m. when the robber fired his 9-millimeter pistol indiscriminately into a crowd inside Jino’s Pizza at 8715 S. Western Ave., investigators said. One person was shot in the hip, another in the leg and a third in the foot, Sgt. Chuck Brown said. All were taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center.
“The suspect was dissatisfied with the amount of money he stole, so he shot into the crowd,” Brown said. “He had taken $50.”
Brown and witnesses said the man escaped on foot down an alley.
