HUNTINGTON BEACH : Dance, Show to Aid District Schools
As Ed Sullivan would say, “It’s going to be a really big show.”
And according to Huntington Beach City School District Supt. Diana Peters, the show, in addition to raising money for grants to the schools, is going to be funny.
Peters referred to a fund-raising dance and show to be held Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at the Old World German Restaurant, 7561 Center Ave. The event is being sponsored by the city’s chamber of commerce and the school district’s California Compact arrangement with businesses and industries.
Peters said the entertainment will feature a skit called “The Best of Ed Sullivan.”
The production, modeled on Sullivan’s old television variety show, will have more than 90 political, education, business and community leaders in roles from variety shows of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.
For instance, Mayor Thomas J. Mays is scheduled to be in a production called “At the Hop.”
Tickets cost $17.50 and may be purchased through the chamber of commerce office or the school district office. More information is available by calling (714) 964-8888.
