Ben Johnson’s records in the 100 meter- and the indoor 50- and 60-meter dashes may be voided this weekend when the International Amateur Athletic Federation holds two days of council meetings in Tokyo. The IAAF will decide whether the Canadian sprinter’s phenomenal 9.83 seconds in the 100-meter dash and other records should be erased from the books because of his admitted use of steroids. A federation official organizing the Tokyo meetings said that the council’s decision will be announced Sunday by IAAF President Primo Nebiolo.
