SANTA ANITA : Live a Dream, Wretham to Lead San Marcos Field
A field of 14 headed by Live the Dream and Wretham was entered today in Sunday’s $150,000-added San Marcos Handicap at Santa Anita.
Live the Dream, winner of the Hollywood Derby, and Wretham, winner of the San Gabriel Handicap, were assigned 119 pounds each for the 38th running of the 1 1/4-mile race for 4-year-olds and up on Santa Anita’s turf course.
Live the Dream will be ridden by Chris McCarron and Wretham will be ridden by Laffit Pincay.
Others entered were Fair Judgment, who will be ridden by Martin Pedroza and was assigned 118 pounds; Prince Ruffian, Fernando Toro, 115; Colway Rally, Jorge Velasquez, 115; Putting, Corey Black, 114; Samoan, Jerry Bailey, 114; River Warden, Russell Baze, 114; King Mab, Thierry Jarnet, 113; Impossible Stream, Sandy Hawley, 113; Two Moccasins, Gary Boulanger, 112; Timefighter, Rafael Meza, 112; Master Treaty, Lanfranco Dettori, 111, and Capel Meister, Goncalino Almeida, 110.
If all 14 entries go to the post, the total purse will be $174,600 and the winner will collect $107,100.
A field of seven headed by Stormy But Valid has been entered in Saturday’s $100,000-added Santa Monica Handicap at Santa Anita.
Stormy But Valid will be ridden by Gary Stevens and was assigned high weight of 119 pounds for the 33rd running of the seven-furlong race for older fillies and mares.
Others entered were Survive, who will be ridden by Baze and was assigned 118 pounds; Hot Novel, Almeida, 117; Stocks Up, Pincay, 117; Baba Cool, Black, 117; Hidden Garden, McCarron, 115, and Solid Eight, Alex Solis, 114.
