Nobel Laureates Override Value of Football Success
In Jim Murray’s column about San Francisco before the 49er-Ram game, I was happy to see that at least he got a few things correct. The 49ers did put the Rams in their place (home), and he was also right about Stanford and Cal. With so many of the nation’s top students, there will be a tendency to see football for what it really is: a game and an extracurricular activity.
Jim Murray makes fun of two of the nation’s top universities for not being sports-minded enough, and then people wonder why our educational system is in a shambles. Well, Jim, you can stay in Southern California with USC and UCLA and count their Rose Bowl victories. I would much rather stay in the Bay Area with Stanford and Cal and count their Nobel Laureates.
