Mission Valley Bank: The San Clemente-based bank recorded net income of $643,732 for 1989, contrasted with a loss of $589,073 for 1988. For the fourth quarter, earnings rose to $148,000 from a year-earlier loss of $407,000. Total assets jumped to $44.1 million from $16.7 million at the end of 1988. Jack R. Barnes, president and chief executive, attributed the turnaround to a redirecting of the bank’s efforts.
