Driver Killed When His Car Hits Tractor-Trailer
Amotorist was killed Wednesday morning after his car sped through a stop sign and crashed into the side of a tractor-trailer rig, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Gary Lofgren, 42, of Rosamond was killed about 4:50 a.m. at the intersection of 60th Street West and Avenue D, near Lancaster, CHP Sgt. Frank Deal said.
Lofgren was southbound on 60th Street and was driving in excess of 50 m.p.h. when he went past the stop sign and crashed into the big rig driven by Michael Wells, 26, of Lancaster, Deal said. Wells was uninjured and was not cited.
Deal said there were no indications that Lofgren tried to stop before impact.
