1 Dead, 1 Hurt in Truck Crash
A San Diego woman was killed and her passenger hurt early Saturday morning when their pickup truck ran off the road, California Highway Patrol officers said.
Linda May Johnson, 20, was driving a 1989 Toyota pickup west on California 52 at 3:35 a.m. when she lost control just west of Genesee Road, officers said.
The truck careened across the highway and slammed into a guardrail, throwing Johnson from the truck, officers said. She died at the scene.
Passenger Shari Gittleman, 19, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla with a broken toe and sprained ankle. She was in good condition Saturday, a nursing supervisor said.
The cause of the accident is unknown, officers said.
