ABORTIONS OF LAST RESORT

If I were to take my infant, born at 40 weeks’ gestation, and insert a cannula into her head, extracting the fluid and collapsing her skull, I would be a murderer. And I would be justly dealt with. McMahon performs the above detailed procedure on fetuses as old as 32 weeks’ gestation, and it is called a legal abortion. I fail to see the difference here between a baby and a fetus.

Socioeconomic status of the woman is no excuse for this delay of abortion. She should be able to make up her mind within three months. If she doesn’t, then she should forfeit her rights, because that baby is a human being with the right to have a chance at life. To say that these women are “just poor. They don’t lead organized, routine lives” is sick. Nobody has the right to be that “disorganized.” This is human life we are dealing with, not some flotsam to be discarded at will.

The law should simply be that no abortions can be performed after the first trimester unless the mother’s life is in danger. McMahon, and all like him, should be prosecuted for murder.
