Drivers Hurt When RTD Bus Hits Car
Two people were injured Sunday morning when a Rapid Transit District bus collided with a car in Northridge, police said.
The car driven by Michelle Chon, 25, of Northridge was heading south on Reseda Boulevard about 7:20 a.m. when it apparently ran a red light, police said. It was hit by an RTD bus heading east on Parthenia Street that was driven by Laura Allen, 29, of Los Angeles. There were no passengers on the bus.
The impact of the collision sent Chon’s car spinning into the westbound lanes of Parthenia. The bus smashed into a retaining wall on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Allen was admitted to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with a broken arm. Chon was treated for a broken clavicle and released.
Andrea Greene, an RTD spokeswoman, said the bus was starting its morning route along Line 420, which runs across the San Fernando Valley along Parthenia. She said another bus was dispatched from the RTD depot in Chatsworth minutes after the accident to avoid delays.
