California IN BRIEF : CONVICT LAKE : Last Victim Pulled From Sierra Lake
Divers recovered the last missing victim of a thin-ice accident that killed seven people, including four would-be rescuers, at this eastern High Sierra lake. A Mono County sheriff’s dispatcher said the body of Dave Meyers was retrieved. The body was sighted by a sophisticated underwater video camera that was lowered into the lake. Meyers, 53, of Bishop, was a counselor at Camp O’Neal who died last Monday with three teen-age boys from the camp, another counselor and two rescuers. Divers recovered the other six bodies last week. Camp O’Neal is a home for youngsters placed by county social service agencies as well as youths classified as delinquent who have committed minor crimes and are under the jurisdiction of probation departments.
