World IN BRIEF : SOUTH KOREA : Protesters Menace U.S. Official’s Home
Protesters shouting anti-government and anti-U.S. slogans tried to stone a U.S. diplomat’s residence in Kwangju and clashed with police in four other cities. Anti-U.S. sentiment in Kwangju is strong because some believe Washington condoned a military crackdown on a pro-democracy movement in the city in 1980.
