California IN BRIEF : PLEASANTON : Suspected Killer Dies of Head Wound
From Times staff and Wire reports
A statewide manhunt that began after two women were shot to death and another wounded at a motel ended when the suspect apparently shot himself to death. An officer saw Manuel Villegas Oller, 51, walking near the motel and challenged him. Oller shot Officer Mark Allen, 30, who radioed for help, Police Chief William E. Eastman said. Oller’s body was found about a quarter-mile away, dead of a bullet wound to the head, apparently self-inflicted, Eastman said.
