WEEKEND BOX OFFICE : ‘Daisy’ Drives On

“Driving Miss Daisy” and “Hard to Kill”--both from Warner Bros.--continued to dominate the weekend box office with ticket sales of $6.1 and $5.4 million, respectively. Elsewhere, moviegoing was sleepy. “Madhouse,” a comedy from Orion Pictures, was No. 3 with just $3.4 million in receipts and Columbia Pictures’ “Revenge”--Kevin Costner’s first film since the popular “Field of Dreams”--slipped to fourth place with ticket sales of $2.8 million. “Where the Heart Is,” director John Boorman’s social satire that was largely critically clobbered, brought Disney a disappointing $530,893 at 235 theaters.

* Tri-Star’s “Mountains of the Moon,” the historical drama about the search for the source of the Nile, opened at two theaters for a high per-screen average of $33,342.
