Craig Gardner, who Phoenix police believe was the gunman in a double murder-suicide in which former Phoenix Cardinal Darryl Usher was a victim, became the third person involved in the incident to die.
Authorities believe Gardner broke into the apartment Saturday to confront Usher, 25, and Gardner’s former girlfriend, Chiquita Burt, 24. Police say Gardner shot Burt and Usher before turning the gun on himself.
