Housing Case
For 20 years I have been writing the Westside Fair Housing Council’s monthly newsletter (“From the Center of Things”). And there I was, scooped by The Times (“L.A. Housing Bias Suit Settled for $450,000,” Part A, Feb. 20). Our newsletter was put to bed the week before the settlement was officially announced.
By the way, in my unrealistic fashion, and always the optimist, I was certain that our council would be out of business these 20 years later simply because people would have stopped discriminating. Instead, things seem to have worsened so this settlement was a real boost.
