WOMEN’S ROUNDUP : Washington State Beats UCLA
Washington State used a 23-8 run in the second half to defeat UCLA, 84-72, Thursday night in a Pacific 10 Conference basketball game at Pullman, Wash.
The teams were tied, 52-52, when the Cougars (14-11, 6-9 in the Pac-10) started their run. Angie Miller finished with 29 points for Washington State. Rehema Stephens and Sandra Van Embricqs scored 20 points each for the Bruins (16-10, 11-5).
UCLA plays at Washington on Saturday.
No. 4 Washington 76, USC 40--Karen Deden and Amy Mickleson each scored 14 points and Laurie Merlino added 12 to lead the Huskies at Seattle.
Washington (23-2, 14-1) held USC, which shot only 31.4%, to its fewest points ever. In February, the Huskies held the Trojans (8-17, 6-10) to 47 points.
The Huskies led at halftime, 36-17.
Senior center Rosalind Hodge scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Trojans. USC plays at Washington State on Saturday night.
