In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Golden West 10, Riverside 4--Todd Long (3-0) allowed 10 hits in his third consecutive complete-game victory for host Golden West (10-2, 2-1). Robb Carabba had three hits, including a double, for Golden West, which had 13 hits.
Mark Mcgrann, Shelby Hart and Steve McKowen had two hits each for Golden West. The Rustlers led, 3-2, going into the seventh, when they scored seven times.
Saddleback 8, Fullerton 7 (8 innings, darkness)--Jason Thompson had four hits to lead the Gauchos (6-5, 1-2) at Fullerton. Saddleback scored four runs in the fourth inning, three of which came on a home run by Jason Kirrer, for a 6-4 lead. Corey Juiliano(3-2) pitched 4 1/3 innings for the victory. Crosby Spencer had a two-run home run for Fullerton (10-3, 1-1).
In nonconference baseball:
MiraCosta 11, Orange Coast 10--Host MiraCosta scored six runs in the ninth. Isidro Maldonado had two doubles and three RBIs and Tony Spann and Joe Pence had two hits and scored two runs each for Orange Coast (8-7).
In nonconference softball:
Golden West 10, San Diego City 0 (6 innings)--Lisa Kaufman and Pam Fogg combined for a no-hitter for host Golden West (7-4). Kaufman went the first three innings, striking out five, for the victory. The Rustlers scored five times in the first inning. Jyll Pattinson walked and scored and also drove in a run with a single in the first. Candace Halvorson had a two-run double for the Rustlers.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:
Orange Coast 9, Cypress 0--Gina Garcia defeated Sabrina Burke, 6-0, 6-3, to lead host Orange Coast (2-1, 1-0). Garcia and Claudia Kerr defeated Burke and Kathy Zepeda, 6-2, 6-4.
Golden West 5, Rancho Santiago 4--Cindy Laird defeated Mary Meister, 6-3, 6-3, to lead visiting Golden West. The Rustlers took the match when they won two of three doubles. Heather Pollack defeated Debbie Naples, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, for Rancho Santiago (3-4, 0-2).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Orange Coast 8, Cypress 1--Ilkyung Choi defeated Bob Carleton, 6-4, 7-6, to lead visiting Orange Coast. In doubles, John Swaino and Carleton defeated Choi and Dave Moore, 6-2, 6-3, for Cypress (3-4, 1-1).
