Notre Dame 4, Santa Monica 1--Junior right-hander Cary Wichmann threw a three-hitter to lead Notre Dame in a Westside tournament game at Santa Monica. Kevin Milligan (two for two, two runs batted in) and Bruno Paniccia (two for four) each doubled for the Knights.

Taft 7, Canyon 1--Corey Jacobsen, Michael Krasner and Benji Belfield combined on a four-hitter to lead Taft in a Westside tournament game at home.

Freshman Warren Stewart and seniors Brett Reisner and Belfield each had two hits for Taft.

Kennedy 10, Hueneme 1--Senior left-hander Denny Sharp threw a three-hitter and had 13 strikeouts in a Westside tournament game at Kennedy.

Lazaro Campos had two hits, including a run-scoring triple in a five-run first inning. Mitchell Drain had a two-run single in a five-run sixth inning.

Alemany 8, Buena 3--Joey Rosselli knocked in three runs to hand Buena pitcher Jason Isaacs his first loss in two years. Rosselli also struck out seven and allowed seven hits and two walks in a Westside tournament game at Alemany.

Steve Pacheco scored from third on a double steal and Leo Tejada’s single drove in another run to give Alemany a 5-3 lead in the fifth.

Camarillo 14, Sylmar 6--Leadoff hitter Mike Muncy went three for four for Camarillo in a Westside tournament game at Camarillo that was called after six innings because of darkness.

Dereck Ornelas and James Encinas each had two hits for Sylmar, which committed six errors.

Harvard 6, Palisades 4--Tony Choi, Chris Stone and Joel Saxton combined on a four-hitter against 1989 City Section 4-A Division finalist Palisades in a Westside tournament game at Harvard. The Saracens capitalized on six Palisades errors and stole six bases.

Montclair Prep 2, Hamilton 0-- Senior Kevin Grant had two hits and threw a two-hitter for Montclair Prep in a Westside tournament game at Montclair Prep.

Hart 12, Lynwood 4--Robby Davis and Lance Migita each drove in two runs, and designated-hitter Damon Mori hit a bases-loaded double in the first in an El Segundo tournament game at Hart.

Simi Valley 5, Mira Costa 0--Senior left-hander Kenny Hood allowed one hit--a bloop single--and struck out six to pace Simi Valley in an El Segundo tournament game at Mira Costa.

Culver City 11, Saugus 5--Walter White was three for four for Saugus in an El Segundo tournament game at Saugus.

Crespi 8, Long Beach Poly 3--Crespi capitalized on seven walks and four errors to score six runs in the first three innings as Crespi beat host Long Beach Poly in an El Segundo tournament game.

Westlake 7, Leuzinger 0--Rob Neal homered in the third inning to lead visiting Westlake in an El Segundo tournament game. Left-hander Mike Eby threw a three-hitter for Westlake.

Moorpark 6, Nordhoff 2--Mike Zamrock had two hits, scored two runs and stole two bases, and Greg Burns added two hits and two RBIs to lead Moorpark in a nonleague game at home. The Musketeers broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run fifth inning.

St. Francis 11, Hoover 6--Mitch Bowen, a senior second baseman, had two hits and three RBIs, including a bases-loaded double in a pivotal nine-run second inning, in a nonleague game at Hoover.

Crescenta Valley 3, La Canada 2--Freshman Brendon Cowsill hit a two-run home run in the third and the Falcons staved off a late Spartan rally in a nonleague opener at La Canada.

Village Christian 13, Buckley 0--In a nonleague opener at Buckley that was called after six innings because of darkness, Matt Bates and Matt Smay combined for Village Christian’s first no-hitter.

Quartz Hill 16, St. Genevieve 7--The Rebels overcame a 5-0 deficit with five runs in the first, four in the second and five in the third in a nonleague game at Quartz Hill that was called after six innings because of darkness.
