7 Hurt by Bullet Fired Into Greyhound Bus
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A bullet tore through a bus run by strike-beset Greyhound Lines Inc. in Florida on Sunday, showering passengers with glass and debris and injuring at least seven people, authorities said.
The attack apparently involved just one shot, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Although none of the injuries appeared life-threatening, two people underwent surgery for shrapnel wounds in the throat and side, and all seven were taken to hospitals, he said.
A union spokesman said he doubted that a striker was to blame for the shooting.
There has been scattered violence since the union representing Greyhound drivers went on strike March 2. One striking driver has been crushed to death by a bus driven by a replacement in Redding, Calif.
