Tommy Houston overtook Elton Sawyer on a restart with 16 laps remaining and won the 200-lap NASCAR Busch Grand National stock car race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. It was the 20th victory of Houston’s Grand National career, but just the first in a 200-lap event at Martinsville’s .526-mile, low-banked oval for the veteran driver from Hickory, N. C.
Houston, who averaged 64.212 m.p.h. in a Buick, won $13,395.
