El Segundo Tops South Bay Teams in Tournament

Ten South Bay high schools will compete in the Palos Verdes/Redondo Baseball Tournament starting Saturday.

Included in the 24-team field are El Segundo, Leuzinger, Torrance, Mira Costa, West Torrance, Miraleste, Redondo, North Torrance, Narbonne and Palos Verdes.

Saturday’s first-round schedule is highlighted by a triple-header at Redondo. The host Sea Hawks face Miraleste at 1 p.m., Narbonne plays Palos Verdes at 4 and Mira Costa meets Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks at 7.

El Segundo, ranked No. 1 in the South Bay and the Southern Section 2-A Division, faces Muir of Pasadena at 7 p.m. at Recreation Park in El Segundo.
