Mark Ratekin went two for three with a double and then came on in the ninth to pick up the save in Point Loma Nazarene’s 3-2 nonconference victory over Wayne State (Neb.). Dion Dice went eight innings to get his second victory for PLNC (9-8-1).
SOFTBALL
Laura Cisneros went five for six as the University of San Diego split a doubleheader with the Coast Guard Academy. The Toreros (9-5) lost the first game, 7-5, but won the second, 3-0, behind Hillary Savage’s three-hit shutout.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Trinity defeated host USD, 5-4, winning two of three doubles matches to break a 3-3 tie after singles. USD had victories at No. 1 singles, where Tonya Fuller defeated Katrina Crawford, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3, and No. 1 doubles, where Aby Brayton and Sakolwan Kacharoen defeated Crawford and Mary Lynn Cladis, 7-5, 6-2.
Fuller is 12-3 in singles matches. No. 16 USD is 6-4, Trinity 4-4.
